RealDocs - Mortgage Loan Docs Creation
A client servicing mortgage lenders and brokers needed
new software for drawing loan documents.Their previous
software was an outdated DOS application requiring a
great deal of manual maintenance.
After reviewing the requirements of the service,
NIS designed a new suite of applications that completely
automated the process. Using Web Services (SOAP) to
transfer document templates and retrieve activity data
allowed the system to run without the manual intervention
previously required.
Loan document templates are created as Adobe PDF
files and published to the server. Clients are provided
access to the templates they need and can now create
loan documents in seconds.
RealDocs has the ability to print both legal and
letter sized pages in natural order as one single print
job. This eliminates the manual task of re-sorting the
pages by hand as other competing systems require.

IntrPlay Profile generator for OD Strategies
OD Strategies trains leading-edge companies in teambuilding
and improved supervisory skills. Using their proprietary
IntrPlay profile assessment tool, participants can immediately
see the key aspects of their relationships. Frictiion
between management and staff are virtually eliminated
through this enlightenment.
NIS refined the process of creating the profile reports
with new software to streamline the process. Reports
are created as Adobe PDF files with integrated color
graphics and graphs that bring out the important details.
Working with OD Strategies, NIS is now in the process
of bringing IntrPlay to the web as a fully automated
process to create reports in real-time.
OD Strategies web site is hosted by NIS.

FACNET For US Govt Vendors
NIS designed and developed a client software application ("VANCe")to connect to the NIS EDI Value Added Network for the U.S. Government's FACNET project. The VANCe software provided subscribers with clear screens to view and create EDI bidding documents for government contracts. TurboPower Softwarelibraries were used for modem communications (Asynch Professional), database access(B-Tree Filer), and user interface controls (Turbo Professional).
NIS also developed an EDI Value Added Network to capture EDI transmission files from theU.S. Government, translate EDI from and to the government and profile RFQ transactionsfor distribution to EDI subscribers. Proprietary NIS software controlled dial-up access and transmission of database files to/from VAN subscribers. Turbo Powersoft's C-based B-Tree Filerdatabase library was translated by NIS from the DOS version to run on Unixware. Using the same database files on the client and server applications allowed NIS and our subscribers to easily transfer data in a native data format.

Real-Time TV Closed Captions
Using a PC-based system and steno input closed captions are now available in real-time on television. This technology has lowered the cost of adding captions to programming and increased the amount of programming available to the hearing impaired. Now current news, sports and live programming are all presented with closed captions.
The application was written in Borland Pascal with component libraries from TurboPower Software. The connection to the caption encoders and screen controls were new technology developed by NIS.

Manufacturing Sales Analysis
A major trade publication wanted to track the trends in manufacturing and sales counts in the RV industry. To get the data from the manufacturers complete security had to be attained since the data submitted was considered confidential. NIS designed a software application to collect the data and record it with complete securuty and anonymous reporting. Aggregate statistics were compiled by the software and charts were created for publication in their magazine.

Rental Analysis
This software for an apparel rental company collected sales data and prepared statistical reports comparing sales across stores and sales periods. Use of the software has allowed management to better monitor performance of its stores and retail management, plus improved forecasting for inventory control and staffing levels.

Telephony Dictation
Through our partners at Promontory Services Corp. we offer a Digital Dictation system to allow your staff to pick up the telephone and dictate reports. Transcribers can call in and transcribe the reports over the phone.
Connect the system to your PBX or directly to standard phone lines. Systems are available with 4 to 96 ports. Multiple systems can even be networked together for an unlimited number of ports.

Interactive Voice Response
IVR is the technology that answers the phone and gives you your bank balance. Using a PC-based system we have developed IVR systems that provide account status, set and confirm appointments, and provide lots of information that previously required lots of staff time to handle.
Any time you have staff answering the same quetions over the phone you have a good candidate for an IVR system. IVR systems can even include fax capabilities to send faxes automatically

Automated Document Assembly
A major estate planning company hired NIS to design a new system for creating and tracking very large legal documents. In their previous system the documents were created using Microsoft Word Macros. Eventually their documents became too complex for Word to assemble. Even worse was the fact that they had no way to track which clients had which versions of a given document.
The system we designed used a database to store and track every version of every document clause. Document templates were used to assemble the documents. As each document is created an record is made in the database to track each clause version used in the document. Later when a given clause needs to be updated due to a legal change a simple report can list out every client that needs to be contacted.
A client data entry application was designed to load the data for assembling the documents. This application was used by agents in the field who uploaded the data to the central office using a modem. Another application running in the central office managed a modem pool and loaded the data from the remote clients. Once the data was loaded the entire document assembly process ran automatically.

Medical Practice Management
Workers' Compensation in California is a difficult
process for medical practitioners to manage. Working
with the top psychiatric clinics in Los Angeles led
to the creation of specialized software to handle this
intensive task.
NIS built their software as an enhancement of the
Pacific Medsoft Practice Manager. Specialized billing
reports were created to meet the requirements of the
CA Dept. of Labor. Tracking of attornies, claims administrators,
and hearing offices were added to give the med-legal
staffs complete control over their pending cases.
Interest and penalties are computed according to state
guidelines and automatically added to cases to ensure
medical offices of getting paid.

Word Perfect Document Generators
Many macros have been developed for document creation in medical offices. Most of theseincorporate entry screens that match paper forms used by physicians when treatingpatients. The macros then create evaluation and treatment reports based on the selectedinformation. Prior to using this system, the office staff would enter test answers manually. With over 550True/False answers this was a tedious and highly error-prone method. Test forms createdwith Teleform are now scanned with the answers automatically entered into a xBasedatabase. NIS wrote an application that reads that database for new data and imports theanswer files, scored the tests and prints a test result page with a graph and T-scores. Thisautomatic system ensures that the data is accurate and reduces the processing time by300%.

Data Conversions
NIS has developed many data conversion applications to allow companies to begin using new software with legacy data. The conversion applications eliminated the need to maintain the previous software for accessing the older data and eliminated the cost of manually entering the data into the new software. In addition using the conversion software to load the existing data ensures that the data is as correct as it was with the prior software. Manual entry is very prone to errors and a very time consuming process.
Many software applications use a standard file format for storing their data, in which case developing the conversion software is not too complicated. Unfortunately there are those applications that store data in a proprietary format that is not easily readable. NIS has even been able to read data from many of those files as well.
If you are planning to inplement a major application consider loading your existing data automatically instead of manual entry. Contact our office for specific details about how NIS can automatically convert your data.
